This academic year History is taught over one year to a small year 11 group. The course followed is AQA syllabus B which is Modern World History, a firm favourite in secondary schools across the country. Due to the significant changes to the history curriculum this is the last time students will have an opportunity to study the topics indicated on the Long Term Plan. Students have an opportunity to study history in overview and depth format. History teaches key skills required for further academic study namely, the ability to recall, select and present information as well as analysis and judgement. History is studied by looking at cause and consequence, change and continuity. A range of resources are used including textbooks, interactive software, personalised worksheets and the internet for research purposes. Studying history involves lots of discussion, interpreting sources, Q&A and a bit of debate as there is never a right or wrong answer!
