Personal Development pupil feedback:
Pupil Voice taken by Personal Development link Governor Dr. S Bennett on Friday 11th November revealed that pupils dealt with issues to do with topics by accessing help and advice from staff in school on a more informal, need to know basis. All pupils could recall topics covered.
Every group felt that bullying was not an issue at this school and felt that all staff would immediately react to any derogatory terms. All groups mentioned staff and the way they treated them as one of the most positive things about The Acorns and what distinguished it from their previous school. Pupils said staff are more “chilled, respectful, helpful and accessible.”
Specific topics mentioned that pupils had liked learning about in the past were wellbeing and gaming. Most enthusiastic discussion about a recent lesson was with Willow group and box exercise. Other specific learners talked about knife crime, dangers in the home, enterprise project and black lives matter.
One pupil mentioned that he had been involved in the school council and had found it a positive experience. One specific pupil asked for more PE (Physical Education) lessons, another asked for easier books to read in the library, and another a football team.
