Attendance

If your child is struggling with attendance, there are many ways we can help :

  • Help Solve Problems: We can talk to parents and find out why a student is missing school and help fix the problem.  We can look at classes, bespoke timetables and emotional support.

  • Keep Track and Talk About It: The school can check who is missing days and talk to the student and parents early to help them get back on track.

  • Give Rewards: We can give small prizes or praise to students who come to school every day, or have improving attendance.

How You Can Support Your Child’s Attendance

We really appreciate your support in helping students attend school regularly and on time. Here’s how you can help:

  • Make sure your child arrives on time, in the correct uniform, and ready to learn.

  • Report absences by calling 01695 585486 before 8:30am each day your child is off.

  • Try to avoid medical appointments during school hours. If it’s unavoidable, please bring your child in before and/or after the appointment, and provide proof of the appointment.

  • Please don’t book holidays during term time. These are not authorised unless there are truly exceptional circumstances. Unauthorised absences may result in a Fixed Penalty Notice.

  • Reach out if you need support — our Attendance Team is here to help with any challenges you or your child are facing.

Punctuality Matters, Too!

Being on time to lessons is just as important as attendance. The beginning of each lesson often includes vital recap and review activities — helping to reinforce learning and fill in any gaps.

Let’s work together to help every student succeed!

School Attendance & Expectations

We want every student to make the most of their time at school and achieve their full potential — and that starts with good attendance!

Our Expectation:

  • We expect all students to aim for at least 97% attendance.

  • Ideally, we’d love to see everyone strive for 100% if possible!

  • If attendance drops to 90% or below, this is considered persistent absence. This means missing the equivalent of half a day of school every week — which adds up to 4 full weeks of lost learning over the year.
