As the registered manager of a Children’s care home where two pupils were registered at Acorns throughout the lockdown period I could not have asked for more support from an educational provider. During the very strange and uncertain times for young people there was always a member of staff contacting them every day to discuss any concerns or worries they may have had. There were tutors calling to discuss academic progress with work that was being sent via the post or accessible on line and also general welfare calls from their form tutors to discuss their emotional wellbeing.

As our young people have a bespoke educational package which includes alternative provisions such as Hair and beauty, tutors were able to arrange provision for the young people to be given model heads for them to complete practical elements of their course work. Their commitment to the young people, particularly those in year 11 and awaiting GCSE results was fantastic and I can’t thank the staff enough for all their hard work demonstrated to those in my care.
