On 20th March, The Acorns School held a Memorial Event for Dylan. The event was attended by Dylan's family and friends,  alongside pupils, staff and governors from the school. Fixit, who worked so hard to support Dylan were there as were Nest Victim Support who have been supporting staff and pupils since Dylan's death in June.

  • A remembrance garden and  plaque were unveiled at the front of the school. Dylan had set his own gardening business up and had started working on neighbour's gardens, so we have planted a garden of blue flowers and shrubs to remember him in the years to come. On the day a balloon arch in blue and white was set up round the front door, next to the garden.

  • Pupils had asked for a bench to be dedicated in Dylan's name.  A new patio area, bench and arbour have been placed at the end of the garden, dedicated to Dylan. We think he would have liked the idea of a place to sit away from staff and discuss things he didn't want us to hear!

  • A football shirt  with "Dylan 15" was gifted to us by Everton FC, signed by all the players and framed. This is now up on the wall in the dining room, at the request of pupils.

  • Liverpool FC worked with Everton FC to get the shirt and also worked with pupils in school to bake cakes to raise money for charity. the cakes were sold on the day and raised £138.50 for the Knife Saver Charity.

  • Pupils and staff past and present wrote their messages and memories of Dylan on fish templates, as he was a very keen fisherman. The fish were attached to the fence around the bench and arbour. Dylan's family enjoyed and treasured those messages.

  • One of our pupils Vinnie with Dylan's sister Molly, planted a early flowering cherry tree next to the bench as a lasting reminder of him.

  • Finally all those gathered there to remember him released blue and white balloons into the sky.

Fly High Dylan, gone but never forgotten.
