The Acorns School continues to remember and celebrate the life of our much-loved student, Dylan Bragger, who tragically passed away in 2023.
Dylan was a smiley, happy, and popular member of our school community who was loved by all. He had a passion for mechanics and was studying to become a car mechanic, with a bright future ahead of him. His loss was deeply felt across our school, and he remains very much in our hearts.
A Memorial Event was held in Dylan’s honour, attended by his family, friends, pupils, staff, governors, and members of the local community. Representatives from Fixit, who supported Dylan, and Nest Victim Support, who have been working closely with our school since his passing, also joined us on the day.
As part of the memorial:
- A remembrance garden and plaque were unveiled at the front of the school. Dylan had set up his own gardening business and had begun helping neighbours with their gardens, so we planted blue flowers and shrubs in his memory — a lasting tribute to his love of the outdoors.
- Pupils requested a dedicated bench, which has been placed alongside a new patio and arbour at the end of the garden - a quiet space to sit, reflect, and remember Dylan.
- Everton FC kindly gifted the school a signed football shirt featuring “Dylan 15”, which now hangs proudly in our dining room. Liverpool FC supported the initiative and worked with pupils to bake cakes to raise funds for the Knife Saver Charity, collecting £138.50 in Dylan’s memory.
- Pupils and staff, both past and present, wrote heartfelt messages and memories on fish-shaped cards, symbolising Dylan’s love of fishing. These were displayed around the remembrance garden for his family to read and cherish.
- Together, one of our pupils, Vinnie, and Dylan’s sister Molly, planted an early flowering cherry tree beside the bench - a beautiful and lasting reminder of him.
- The event concluded with the release of blue and white balloons into the sky, a fitting tribute to Dylan’s spirit.
Dylan will always be remembered with love and pride by everyone at The Acorns School.
Fly high, Dylan — gone but never forgotten.
