As part of our vocational offer, we always strive to find and provide the right training for our pupils, tailored to their interests and needs. We work with a range of exceptional external providers including BDS Training, which, for the past year, has been supporting one of our Year 10 pupils to develop her hairdressing skills and industry knowledge.

Our pupil has flourished under BDS Training’s expertise, gaining hands-on experience within the hairdressing industry while completing assignments and practical assessments to an extremely high standard.

An alternative education provider, BDS Training has held City & Guilds approval since 2006 and gives pupils the opportunity to gain awards, certificates and diplomas in hairdressing, barbering, beauty therapy, and health and social care.

Having attended BDS Training since the start of the academic year, our Year 10 pupil has grabbed every opportunity with both hands, developing a genuine enthusiasm for working with clients and engaging with the public.

Demonstrating a positive attitude and dedication to learning, our pupil has grown in confidence by engaging in these real-world experiences and putting her newly acquired skills into practice.

Toni Rowlands, Managing Director of BDS Training, said: “This pupil has truly shone this term, demonstrating a mature, professional and highly motivated approach to her training. Her willingness to complete assignments and practical assessments has been exceptional and she has consistently achieved impressive results.

“With her strong work ethic, natural flair, and commitment to excellence, there is no doubt that she is on the path to becoming an outstanding hairdresser!”

Everyone at The Acorns School is incredibly proud of this pupil’s journey and the incredible progress she has made within the past year. With another year ahead of her as she moves into Year 11, we are excited to see her continue to thrive in an environment which nurtures her talents and supports her aspirations.
