We are proud to celebrate the achievements of one of our brilliant Year 11 pupils who has excelled during her placement with one of our external training providers, Bikemech Training.

Bikemech, based in Wigan, is an alternative vocational training provider offering specialist programmes in motorcycle mechanics, track and events management, and safe riding skills.

Designed for young people aged 14 to 18, the provision supports learners with a keen interest in motocross or cycling sports, while helping to develop valuable practical skills and industry knowledge. All activities are fully insured and risk-assessed, with courses carefully tailored to meet individual learner needs in consultation with schools.

Throughout her time at Bikemech, our pupil proved to be an exceptional student. She was consistently polite, respectful and supportive of her peers, and demonstrated a fantastic attitude towards learning. She particularly enjoyed working in the workshop, where she developed her mechanical skills, alongside building confidence through riding.

Her positive mindset and enthusiasm stood out, with staff noting her willingness to help others. She was a strong rider and regularly offered encouragement to new students, always ready to support those who needed assistance. Her approach and engagement reflected how much she valued the experience.

During her placement, she successfully achieved her Level 1 qualifications in mechanics, health and safety, and car valeting, as well as working towards the ABC Level 1 award in motor vehicle studies.

Ken Winstanley from Bikemech praised her attitude and work ethic, describing her as a pleasure to work with and recognising her potential within the mechanics field.

Ken added: “We wish her the best of luck in her next adventure in life.”

We are delighted to work with partners such as Bikemech Training, whose programmes provide meaningful opportunities for pupils to gain qualifications, develop practical skills and build confidence beyond the classroom.
