Pupils have been feeling inspired after taking part in our latest WOW sessions, where Antony Grace, our school’s enterprise adviser, delivered an engaging careers workshop in partnership with Inspira.

As the Owner and Director of ASH Integrated Services, a Manchester-based integrated mechanical and electrical contractor employing over 60 people, Antony shared his personal journey from leaving school to building and leading his own successful company.

Taking place over two sessions, Antony worked with both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils, who were excellent throughout the sessions and showed high levels of engagement and enthusiasm. We were extremely impressed by how receptive pupils were and how confidently they took part in discussions.

He provided pupils with a valuable insight into the electrical industry, helping them to understand the wide range of career pathways available, from apprenticeships and further education routes to long-term career progression and business ownership.

Our pupils found the session both fun and informative, allowing them to develop their understanding of the different career pathways available within the industry, as well as the transferable skills that can be gained.

They also engaged extremely well in the World of Work Day session, where Antony explained what employers look for at an interview, how to present themselves through their CVs, and how to conduct themselves professionally in person.

A Key Stage 3 pupil said: “I thought it was cool seeing the different appliances that he brought in for us."

A Key Stage 4 pupil added: “Anthony was really good at talking about how to conduct yourself in an interview.”

Antony will continue to work closely with Key Stage 4 students as they prepare for college interviews and CV building, while further work will also focus on Key Stage 3 employability skills.
